Research Activity 1 (Cons):

Title: Connected, But Alone.

Speaker: Sherry Turkle

Main Idea:  How Technology have negatively affected us as Human Beings.

Sub Topics:

  • People want to be connected but alone, being able to talk and say hi to so many people but at the same time be alone, sitting undisturbed.
  • Texting has become easier, people prefer it over having actual conversations. Heavily resulting in a generational lack with real time conversation skills.
  • People Nowadays feel like "No one is listening to me" making them feel more comfortable connecting to technology. Wishing that there was a humanoid version of Siri that can be their best friend." We expect more form Technology and less from each other".
  • Connection becoming a symptom of loneliness causing anxiety and depression. Defining ourselves through technology changing our psyches and our personalities, creating fears such as loneliness.
